'Glenn Maxwell is Most Overrated Player in IPL History': Former RCB Star Body-shamed After Brutal Criticism of Aussie Superstar
Glenn Maxwell is having a torrid time in IPL, having managed just 36 runs from seven innings so far.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru might be undergoing a late revival in IPL 2024 but there’s no end to the struggles of their batting superstar Glenn Maxwell whose horrendous run in the T20 league continues. As RCB recovered from a stunning batting collapse against Gujarat Titans for a facile win on Saturday night, Maxwell again failed to show up, managing just four runs before being dismissed at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

This is the sixth time in seven innings that Maxwell has played this IPL that he hasn’t been able to touch a score in double-digits. His best score this season, so far, has been 28 against Kolkata Knight Riders in late March.

Due to his poor form, Maxwell himself asked the RCB team management for a mental and physical break but it hasn’t had the desired effect he was hoping for.

Former RCB star Parthiv Patel has branded the Australian as the ‘most overrated’ played in the history of IPL following his failure with the bat against GT.

“glenn maxwell….HE IS THE MOST OVERRATED player in the history of ipl,” Patel posted on X.

However, an anonymous user took a dig at Patel for his criticism of the RCB cricketer following which the former India wicketkeeper-batter responded in kind.

To make his point, Patel than conducted a poll on his ‘X’ account and posted an early result that indicated a majority of the voters feel Maxwell has been a better player in Australian colours than compared to IPL.

“My point exactly. He hasn’t translated his international form and reputation to the #IPL. Given the opportunities he’s had across franchisees, his performance has been very underwhelming,” Patel posted.

For the record, Maxwell has thus far scored 2755 runs in 132 IPL matches at a strike-rate of 156.36 and has represented three different franchises including Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and RCB.

Maxwell has 18 half-centuries in IPL with a highest individual score of 95.

On the other hand, the 35-year-old has scored 2468 runs in 106 T20Is for Australia at a strike-rate of 155.51. He has five centuries – the joint-most in T20I history – along with 10 fifties.
