All over the years, the whole country has witnessed many popular films from the South Indian film industry. With the recent success of the KGF franchise, Pushpa, RRR, Baahubali franchise, and other South Indian films, there has been an increase in the craze for regional content all around the country. Nowadays, many actors from Bollywood are also working in South Indian films. To honour South cinema, the 68th Filmfare Awards South were organised on July 11, which included nominations from South Indian cinema. So, let’s take a look at the winners, particularly in the Malayalam film industry:
The 68th Filmfare Awards South is an award event that recognises and honours the best films and performances from Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam films and music released in 2022, along with special honours for lifetime contributions and a few special awards as well. In Malayalam cinema, Kunchacko Boban has won the Best Actor award for his performance in Nna Thaan Case Kodu. The Best Film award was also won by Nna Thaan Case Kodu. The film did exceptionally well, and even the best director was also given to Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval for the same film. On the other hand, the Best Actress award was won by Darshana Rajendran for her impeccable performance in Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey. She played the role of Jayabharathi in the project.
The best-supporting actor was won by Indrans for the role of Kuttichayan in Udal. Apart from that, the best supporting actress was given to Parvathy Thiruvothu for her outstanding role in the psychological drama Puzhu.
In terms of music, the Best Music Director award was won by Kailas Menon for his outstanding music for the film Vaashi. Unni Menon won the Filmfare Award for the best playback singer for the song Rathipushpam from Bheeshma Parvam. The Filmfare award for the best playback singer (female) was given to Mridula Warrier for the song Mayilpeeli Ilakunnu from Pathonpatham Noottandu.
Filmfare had earlier informed that the award ceremony could not be held last year due to unforeseen reasons; therefore, to felicitate the talents that shined last year, Filmfare is announcing the winners digitally.
