IND vs ENG, 2nd Test: Sachin Tendulkar Praises Centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal's Sublime Knock Against England
Jaiswal’s magnificent knock impressed many and legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar was also in awe of the southpaw.

Young India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his brilliance with the bat having brought up a sublime ton today against England in the second Test. Jaiswal notched his maiden Test century in India with a six off English spinner Tom Hartley’s delivery. Jaiswal did miss out on a hundred in the first innings of the opening Test in the Hyderabad Test but he showed tremendous composure in Vizag to breach the three-digit mark. Jaiswal’s magnificent knock impressed many and legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar was also in awe of the southpaw. Sharing a picture of the young opening batter on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Sachin wrote, “Yashasvi Bhava.”

Tendulkar’s praiseworthy note could not have come at a better time than this as Yashasvi Jaiswal scripted his name today in an elite list of players comprising the master blaster. Jaiswal became the fourth cricketer from India to score Test centuries both home and away before turning 23. Apart from Jaiswal and Sachin, the other two Indian players present on this exclusive list of cricketers are – Vinod Kambli and Ravi Shastri.

Jaiswal had scored his maiden Test century on his debut against West Indies in July last year. Facing the Caribbean bowling attack at Windsor Park in Dominica, Jaiswal had pulled off a fabulous knock of 171 in the first innings back then. With this, Jaiswal emerged as the third India opener, after Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw, to claim a century on Test debut.

Coming back to the second Test against England, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. Skipper Rohit’s decision seems to have paid off as India find themselves in a comfortable position having lost three wickets with 249 runs on board.

Jaiswal was India’s star performer with the bat having stitched a solid 90-run stand for the third wicket to earn an advantage for the hosts. The 22-year-old played an aggressive brand of cricket and brought up his hundred with a six over the long-on region.

Having lost the Test series opener to England in Hyderabad, the Indian cricket team will be desperately looking for a victory in the second game. With KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja out due to injury issues, the Indian team management decided to include debutant Rajat Patidar, while spinner Kuldeep Yadav also got place in the playing 11.
