Amir Hussain Lone, a 34-year-old differently-abled cricketer from Waghama village in Bijbehara, Jammu and Kashmir, who scripted a new story for his life, will be among those present at the Rising Bharat Summit 2024, the fourth edition of the CNN-News18 marquee leadership conclave to be held in New Delhi on March 19-20.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the keynote address of the summit, which celebrates India’s remarkable transformative journey, while also acknowledging the immense potential that lies ahead.
Lone hails from Waghama village in Bijbehara. He met with an accident at his father’s mill when he was 8 years old, thus losing his hands. Despite the setback, Lone has been playing cricket professionally since 2013, after a teacher discovered his cricketing talent and introduced him to Para Cricket.
Lone has always maintained that he believed in his independence and self-reliance, and made a decision to not get bogged down by challenges.
Touched by Amir’s dedication to the game, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar expressed his desire to meet him and commended him for inspiring millions passionate about cricket. “And Amir has made the impossible possible. I am so touched watching this! Shows how much love and dedication he has for the game. Hope I get to meet him one day and get a jersey with his name. Well done for inspiring millions who are passionate about playing the sport," Sachin Tendulkar posted on X recently.
Through insightful discussions, thought-provoking panels and visionary keynote addresses, Rising Bharat aims to delve deeper into the multifaceted dimensions of India’s global influence and its role in shaping a more equitable and sustainable future for all with its mantra — ‘Leading for Global Good’.
