Rishabh Pant led a fine display from Delhi Capitals as they recorded a thrilling four-run win over Gujarat Titans in an IPL 2024 clash held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday night. Pant was the top-scorer from either side, hitting a 43-ball 88 to help DC to a match-winning total of 224/4 against the former champions.
Pant belted five fours and eight sixes during his blazing knock. Unfortunately, one of his big sixes resulted in a cameraperson, belonging to BCCI production crew, got hit during the contest.
After the match, Pant sent a video message in the company of DC head coach Ricky Ponting, apologising to the crew member and wishing him quick recovery.
“Sorry Debashish bhai, did not intend to hit you, but I think you can recover well and good luck,” Pant said in a clip shared by IPL on their social media account on X.
Pant has made a superb return to competitive cricket after spending over a year nursing injuries he suffered during a car accident in December 2022.
The ongoing IPL is his first competitive tournament and he’s been quite impressive with he bat and equally good behind the stumps too.
“Everyday that I’m in the middle, I feel better,” Pant said after the match on Wednesday. “Every hour on the field matters, I love being on the field. I try to give it my 100% and it takes some time sometimes. I think the first six in the match gives me the confidence in a game. The more time I spend in the centre, the better I feel.”

Pant has surely staked his claim in India’s T20 World Cup squad which will be picked by the end of April.
With 342 runs from nine innings, the 26-year-old is the third highest run-getter of the season now. He’s just behind Virat Kohli (379 runs from 8 innings) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (349 runs from 8 innings) in the race for the Orange Cap.
