This IPS Officer Rejected 16 Govt Jobs Before Cracking UPSC Exam
Tripti Bhatt secured 165th rank in the Union Public Service Commission CSE 2013.

Becoming a public servant, especially an IAS, IPS or IFS officer is a dream of many. Often people leave behind their high-package salaried jobs or reject lucrative offers from prestigious institutes. One such example is Tripti Bhatt, who rejected ISRO and 16 job offers to become one of the most loved and popular IPS officers.

Tripti Bhatt hails from Almora in Uttarakhand, where she was born into a family of teachers. She is the eldest of the four siblings. She did her schooling at Beersheba School and attended Kendriya Vidhayala to pursue Class 12. After school, she pursued her B.Tech from Pantnagar University. Tripti Bhatt has previously worked as an assistant manager at the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).

While studying in Class 9, she had the biggest opportunity to meet the late President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. When she met her, he had given her a handwritten letter which left her inspired. She rejected 16 government job offers which also included an offer from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). She also rejected many other such lucrative offers and worked hard to crack the Civil Service Exam (CSE) in her first attempt and became an IPS officer.

Tripti Bhatt was extremely inspired by The Missile Man of India and finally fulfilled her dream of serving the nation. She secured 165th rank in the Union Public Service Commission CSE 2013. She has a gold medal in marathon and state-level badminton competitions. She also has an interest in Taekwondo and Karate

She was allotted her home town for her position, where she got the post of Superintendent of Police (SP) in Dehradun. After that, she took charge as an SP in Chamoli, then State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) Commander in Tehri Garhwal. Currently, she is posted as Dehradun SP Intelligence and Security.

She is quite active on social media and often shares glimpses of her tough work. She had earlier shared her posting in her hometown and being a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in 2022. Her caption read, “Was on uniformed duty at my home district for the first time in all these years of service.. and the feeling was a special one. A snapshot from Prime Minister’s rally at Almora.”
