Exclusive | Eric Nam Wants To Play Deadpool's Brother in MCU, Says He's Open Working in Bollywood
Eric Nam will be performing Lollapalooza India this weekend. Ahead of the concert, he spoke to us about Bollywood, MCU and more.

International singer Eric Nam is all set to take on centre stage this weekend as part of Lollapalooza India. Ahead of his concert, he sat down for an exclusive chat with News18 and opened up about his thoughts on an acting career. The singer teased that there are a few acting projects in the pipeline. When we asked him if he would be open to starring in a Marvel Cinematic Universe, Eric confessed that he would love to work in a Marvel film and also had a role in mind.

“I mean would love to, I think that would be so much fun,” Eric said, before adding, “I think existing characters aside, I would love to play a character that is incredibly sharp-tongued, very witty, very cynical and sarcastic, I want to play Deadpool’s younger brother. That’s what I want. That is where I would have the most fun. Just being very snappy and so if there are characters out there like that, please let me know.”

While that would be an interesting casting, Eric also said that he would be open to working in Bollywood, if given a chance. He said he would love to compose a song for a Bollywood film some day. “I would love to. I think it’s just, I got to figure out how to make the best song for it. Bollywood songs are also very specific to Bollywood so I don’t know if I could do exactly what they want but I could try my best. That’ll be fun,” he told us.

The singer also added that he would be open to starring in a Bollywood film as well. “I’ve thought about this once in a while that it would be really cool to be in a Bollywood film,” Eric confessed. “I think I would do a Bollywood film if offered. The role would have to be the right role but I think it would be so cool. It’s just such a fascinating, entertaining world. I don’t how it would look like or sound like or what I would do but if anybody is out there, reading this interview, and they are curious, hit us up!” he added.

Eric also revealed that he was offered a few K-dramas in the past but he turned it down because he was not confident about his Korean speaking skills. “I think I have maybe a long time ago. One reason why I had shied away from acting was because my Korean now is very, very good. However, I had a complex or so much insecurity about my Korean language skills that I could never imagine myself acting well. Unless the role was specifically written for me as a Korean-American,” he said.

“Acting in itself is very, very difficult but to do it in another language that I am not completely confident in makes it even more difficult. So for a long time, when I was asked (to act in K-dramas), I said no, I don’t think I want to do it. But I think now, I feel sure, why not? My Korean has gone to a place where I am feeling very confident and I have acted now, not a lot but a few times so I have a baseline understanding of how I would read a character and how I would deliver it. So I will consider it, I will say, yes, maybe,” Eric said.

Meanwhile, back in the US, Eric said that he is working on a few projects in English. “Hopefully, a lot of it will be out soon,” he concluded.

Eric Nam will be performing at Lollapalooza India on Sunday, January 28. Tickets are available on BookMyShow.
