A classy gesture from current Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has elated fans on the internet. Weeks after the FA Cup final, football journalist Kieran Maguire shared a post on X claiming that the new bosses at Old Trafford decided against paying for the club’s staff to attend the game nor put on a club party to celebrate their appearance.
The journalist further voiced that Bruno was ‘horrified’ at this snub. The club captain then reportedly approached the management and offered to pay for everything and everyone from his own pocket.
“Fair play to Bruno Fernandes for offering to pay for the staff trip to Wembley when Manchester United played in the FA Cup Final, “ Kieran wrote on X.

The same post further specified that Bruno Fernandez’s offer was ultimately rebuffed as Manchester United officials didn’t want the player to make them look bad. Amazed by Bruno’s gesture, several fans commended the Manchester United captain for showing up as a true leader.
On the other hand, netizens were also disappointed in the club’s owners and wrote, “Don’t sound like a nice gang of people the Man Utd bosses and going against the values of the club.”

Despite Bruno Fernandez’s brilliant show of leadership, there are several Manchester United fans and pundits who do not want to see the Portuguese start continue as captain.
As per Kieran Maguire’s X post, the club’s former captain Harry Maguire had been getting a ton of online support. Many of the fans wanted to see the English defender reinstated as the club’s captain. This wave of support for Harry began after he was seen greeting all the Manchester United kids in the club’s academy.
In the same post, Kieran Maguire also voiced that it would be far from a correct decision to switch captaincy in the Manchester United locker room. He further opined that being a nice person should not influence a change in leadership. “If being an all-around good guy is the qualification, it would be a huge mistake to remove incumbent Bruno Fernandes,” he concluded.
There still has not been any official announcement regarding a change in captaincy at Old Trafford. It remains to be seen if Harry Maguire could once again take charge of the Red Devils’ helm.
