13 sovereigns stolen from two houses in Tirupur

TIRUPUR: As many as 13 sovereigns of jewellery, various silver articles and cash were stolen from two houses in the district on Saturday. According to police, Suresh, 29, resident of Velliyankadu in Mullipuram in Nathakadaiyur went to a relative’s home on Saturday with his family members. When he returned home, he was shocked to find the valuables, including seven sovereigns, missing. In another incident, the house of Karthikeyan, 42, at Pattal Strett in Palladam was burgled on Friday night, when the inmates were away at a relative’s home.The gang, which made use of this situation, entered the house and decamped with six sovereigns of gold jewellery and silver vessels from the house. The Palladam police registered a case and further investigations are on.
