14-year-old girl commits suicide in Dorala area

A 14-year-old girl allegedly killed herself by jumping in front of a train in Dorala area here, police said on Friday.

Pammi jumped in front of a train on Thursday morning after continuously facing ill-treatment from her stepmother, Senior Superintendent of Police Onkar Singh said.

Pammi's father Mangat Ram remarried after his wife died 15 years ago and Pammi was being ill treated by her stepmother ever since, Singh said.

However, Mangatram claimed that his daughter was being harassed by a boy because of which she killed herself.

The body has been sent for postmortem, Singh said, adding that a thorough investigation is being carried out in the case.

No complaint has been filed against anyone by the girl's family, he said.
