As usual with its glowing tradition, the 17th edition of the IFFK also opened to packed houses yesterday. The state Chief Minister Oommen Chandy inaugurated the 17th International Film Festival of Kerala at Nishagandhi Open Auditorium in a function attended by 3000 delegates.
Alfred Hitchkock's Silent movie 'The ring ' was screened as the opening film which was accompanied by Live Orchestra from London .
The Chief Minister assured that since the increasing participation of foreigners and local delegates is becoming the much discussed highlight of the event, the government will pay heed to the long pending demand of putting up a Film Complex in Thiruvananthapuram.

Actor Mohanlal was the Chief Guest while K B Ganesh Kumar, Minister for Cinema, Sports and Forest presided over the function. K B Ganesh Kumar, Central Minister of State for Human Resources Development released the Festival Book handing over a copy to Mayor K Chandrika.
