20 Years After Terrorists Killed J&K Man, His Son Becomes Victim Of Targeted Killing In Rajouri

A 40-year-old man was killed in a targeted attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Monday. The victim, identified as Mohammad Raziq, was shot at after he came out of a mosque in his village Kunda Top under the Thanamandi police station area.

Raziq was immediately shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His death in this targeted attack comes 20 years after his father, Mohammad Akbar, was killed by terrorists.

Razaq’s brother is a soldier in the Territorial Army, news agency PTI cited officials as saying. The targeted attack, third in two weeks, comes amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Former J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti extended condolences to the bereaved family and said, “…This is the third targeted killing in less than ten days. Condolences to the bereaved family.”

Meanwhile, Congress hit out at the Centre over the topic of end of terrorism incidents in the valley.

The incident comes less than a week after a migrant worker from Bihar was shot dead by terrorists in south Kashmir’s Anantnag. The man was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

A Telegram channel that carries propaganda from The Resistance Front (TRF) — a proxy outfit of the Lashkar-e-Taiba — claimed responsibility for the attack. The terror outfit had termed the killing as a “gift for your elections”.

The deceased, a Bihar resident’s son, was identified as 35-year-old Raja Shah. He had sustained two bullet injuries on the neck and abdomen.

Earlier on April 8, terrorists had shot and injured a non-local tourist cab driver in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
