Three persons including a trader and his son were on Friday killed while two others received injuries when suspected activists of ultra outfit PLFI opened fire indiscriminately at a market in Khunti district, police said.

Three persons including a trader and his son were on Friday killed while two others received injuries when suspected activists of ultra outfit PLFI opened fire indiscriminately at a market in Khunti district, police said.

A group of over a dozen suspected PLFI members arrived in Saiko village market in the peak hours and started firing indiscriminately, killing a trader Binay Sao and Sohrai on the spot, said Ashwini Kumar Sinha, Sub-divisional Police Officer of Khunti.

Binay's father Banwari Sao and two others also suffered bullet injuries in the gun fire and were rushed to Khunti Sadar Hospital, where doctors referred critically injured Banwari to Ranchi after primary treatment, Sinha said.

However, Banwari Succumbed to his injuries in Ranchi. The exact cause behind the firing could not be known but demand of levy was suspected to be a reason behind the incident.
