Nagpur: Three people claiming to be relatives of well known film maker late Raj Kapoor have been arrested by the cops in Mumbai on Sunday.
Nikita Rao, Satpal Kewalramani and Durga Rokde have been arrested for forging property documents and trying to sell 25 acres of land in Nagpur that belongs to filmmaker Raj Kapoor's relative Namita Kapoor.
The trio conned prospective buyers by false documents and were making an attempt to sell land to buyers, which was not even theirs.
"They used to call prospective buyers to five star hotels. They wore good clothes and managed to convince people of their respectability and authenticity,” says IO, Prasad Sanas.
However, it was during one such meeting with a prospective buyer from Mumbai that the police tracked them down.
"We caught them red handed,” says PI, Nandanvan police station, Prabhakar Tikkas.
The police hope that these arrests will deter such frauds in future.
