New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 7 year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by three men in Tigri Area in Delhi on Saturday. According to sources, the minor girl was playing in a park when she was taken away and allegedly gangraped.
The minor was rushed to AIIMS on Saturday and police has said that she is stable now. Meanwhile, one person has been arrested in connection with the case and further investigations are underway in the case.
A case was registered under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Acts at Neb Sarai Police Station in south Delhi and the accused teenager, who is a school dropout, has been apprehended, said the official.
Following the incident, some locals in the area alleged police inaction in connection with the case and claimed that the girl was sexually assaulted by at least three persons. However, senior police officials ruled out such allegations and maintained that investigation was taken up immediately once the complaint was received and there was only one accused involved in the incident.
Congress leader Sharmishtha Mukherjee hit out at the police for their inaction. "These kinds of incidences are shocking. When they happen with little girls, no word can describe that horror. We are utterly at lost why Police is not doing anything about it. They need to put out an action plan immediately. Delhi government should do what is under them", said Mukherjee.
