A story of true love

GULBARGA: This simian showed what true love and sorrow are when its companion died here on Sunday morning.According to eye-witnesses, one of two black-faced monkeys while crossing Jewargi Road at the Industrial Estate Area, got electrocuted and died on the spot. Its companion, however, tried to lift it, but failed. It then signalled to passers-by trying to bring them near the dead monkey. A large number of people gathered and made preparations for the last rites of the monkey. The dead monkey was tied to a chair and was offered prayers. The other monkey, overcome with grief, refused to move away from the dead monkey and started weeping, say witnesses. It even refused to eat bananas offered to it. The monkey then perched on a tree and witnessed the last rites, the eye-witnesses added.
