Mumbai: Actors Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif locked in a tight embrace on snow-capped Alps and dressed in designer togs and sizzling on the screen as they romance on a motorbike – sounds like any other masala potboiler doesn't it?
These scenes are from filmmaker Raj Kanwar’s film Humko Deewana Kar Gaye and he says that they have been inspired by a real life incident.
"It's about a couple based in Toronto, Canada. It's amazing how they met then seperated and then met again. I thought it makes a good subject about family values for today's generation," Raj Kanwar said.
Whether the real life couple on whom the director's story is based is even half as glamorous as this one, is yet to be discovered.
But the casting of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, with Bipasha Basu in a special appearance is definitely giving this film a boost as far as pre-release audience curiosity is concerned.
Apart from Raj Kanwar, only the film's leading man has met the couple that has inspired this film.
"They stay in Canada. I have met them once, they are a very happy couple," Akshay Kumar said.
Hoping to duplicate the success of his last hit Andaaz which also released on April 14, three years ago, Raj Kanwar is keeping his fingers crossed over Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, which checks into theatres on the same date next week.
