London: Though relatively less popular than the Grammys, the BRIT awards or the British music awards were announced on Wednesday in London. Here's all the action from London's Earl Court.
Looks like Britian has soul'd out to Welsh soul singer Duffy, as she led the way with three awards at this year's BRIT Awards which took place on Wednesday night. The foxy lady grabbed the best British female solo artist award, British breakthrough act and best British album for her 'Rockferry'.
singer Duffy says, "I just want you to know that, for the record, I travelled this whole country from Wales to London and back again a thousand times, playing my songs to old ladies who are probably watching the TV tonight saying that they probably heard some of my songs so thank you to the British public I can't tell you what this means after five years. Thank you so much."
Heavy metal fans had a reason to cheer as the uber popular veterans of rock - Iron Maiden took away the 'Best Live Act Award' at the Brits.
Sadly though, Coldplay, despite winning 3 Grammys, including song of the year, walked away from the BRITs empty-handed.
The best international female award was picked up by pop queen Katy Perry and she took her award from singer Lionel Richie.
Special performances by superstar Kylie Minogue and U2 also formed a part of the award ceremony.
Singer: Katy Perry says , "I just want to thank everybody here in London and everybody in the UK. I'm so sick right now but they said I should show up to the Brits because something special might happen. So thank you very much."
