APIC Secretary Sekhar Babu takes VRS

HYDERABAD: Senior IAS officer SE Sekhar Babu on Wednesday retired from service as the secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Information Commission. He opted for voluntary retirement though he had another two months of service left. It was rumoured that the officer opted for VRS as he was unhappy with his current posting but Sekhar Babu rubbished them stating he was retiring due to health problems.Sekhar Babu had earlier worked as Srikakulam district collector during 1998- 99, director of Employment and Training in Hyderabad during 1999-2000, commissioner of panchayat raj from 2005-2008 and secretary for finance from 2008- 11.He was recently posted as APIC secretary where he served from October 2011 to February 2012.In a release, APIC lauded Sekhar Babu’s services for taking interest in improving the administration and stated he was an asset to the commission.
