HYDERABAD: To help promote the cause and bridge the gap of the education system between the rich and the poor, Hyderabad Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre in association with Passionate, an NGO, is organising a fundraiser on July 30, to help transform Government Primary School at Bowenpally into a model school in the country.To make it a model school, facilities like holistic educational environment, recreation, hygiene, appropriate curriculum   with a focus on pupil-teacher ratio and emphasis on value-based education and life skills have to be provided.  And to provide the same it takes a lot of monetary input for which the funraiser is being held. Actress Lakshmi Manchu has also extended her support by signing a cheque of `25,000 to start off with. “I am very happy to be a part of the event and what more than education and food can one provide,” says the actress adding one of her favourite quotes, “Even if one forgets everything they learnt at school, they still have education.”A group of artistes from the city like Sashikant Naidu, Deepika Reddy and Karuna Gopal are also supporting the cause. Deepika Reddy, an eminent Kuchipudi dancer says, “I will be performing three Kuchipudi pieces, one on the story of the introduction of the Kuchipudi dance, its origin and how it was popularised,  the second one on the various tourism spots and promoting them and concluding it with an ode to the various craftsmen of Andhra Pradesh like Pochampally and Kondally.”The designer famous for his natural dyes and eco-friendly products, Sashikant Naidu says, “I will be displaying my eco-friendly works. I hope everybody likes it and since it is for a good cause, I am more than happy to be doing this.”President of Futuristic Foundation, Karuna Gopal, and a painter by hobby says, “I will be donating nine paintings on urbanisation done by my son and me. If this cause is for the benefit of poor, then I think it’s the right place to contribute.” Karuna Gopal’s son is a victim of Autism and has developed his skills in painting.
