THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: G Vijayaraghavan and K Balakrishnan of the Asian School of Business (ASB) Kerala will deliver keynote lectures at the International Business Week (IBW) organised by the School of Business of the Kansas University from September 12 to 16 to enhance the understanding of global business. This year, at the International Business Week, India has been selected as a focus because of its growing clout as an economic power in the world. Vijayaraghavan and Balakrishnan will speak on India’s rapidly evolving business environment. Vijayaraghavan is the ASB board director and founding CEO of Technopark Thiruvananthapuram, the first technology and software park in India. At present, he is a member of the Kerala State Planning Board and the president of VMA Consultants Private Limited. Balakrishnan, who is the dean of ASB, has 22 years of industrial experience across various sectors, functions and organisations such as Blue Star Ltd, Sanmar Group and Escorts and was the COO/CEO of Century Wood Ltd and Raman Boards Limited. The IBW organised at the Kansas University will focus on India this year because of the high growth rate of the Indian economy, a burgeoning and increasingly affluent middle class, and high service emphasis which makes understanding India a critical component of contemporary business education.On the first day of the IBW, Vijayaraghavan and Balakrishnan will speak at the University, highlighting marketing and entrepreneurship in India. The following morning, they will deliver a presentation titled ‘India: Ancient land, modern opportunities’ over breakfast at the Kansas Union Edwards Campus. Finally, the week will be rounded out by a student case competition featuring a business problem set in the Indian retail setting and a faculty forum.
