Uttar Pradesh’s ground-breaking ceremony 4.0 seems to be a blessing in disguise for the state’s pilgrim cities and towns.

Of the total development projects worth Rs 10,000 lakh crore, the foundation of which will be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, projects worth Rs 1,26,000 crore are solely meant for the development of UP’s religious cities, including Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura and other big and small temple towns.

PM Modi will also carry out the ‘bhumi pujan’ before laying the foundation of the development projects which are expected to bring in employment opportunities.

Officials with the UP government said Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura remained the most preferred destinations for investors in the state. Of the three, Mathura would see the foundation laying of projects worth Rs 13,486.63 crore. It was given a target of Rs 15,000 crore.

The birthplace of Lord Krishna is followed by Lord Ram’s birthplace Ayodhya which will witness the initiation of projects worth Rs 10,155.79 crore. Following the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22, the city is set to attract significant investments in various sectors, including hotels, resorts, and more on a large scale.

Then come prime minister’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi where the prime minister will launch projects worth Rs 15,313.81 crore. A total of 124 investors will establish their ventures in Varanasi, providing employment opportunities for more than 43,000 people.

Apart from the key religious sites mentioned earlier, significant investments are also planned for other religious places in Uttar Pradesh. Projects worth Rs 86,000 crore will take shape in eight religious places, including Chitrakoot, the penance site of sages; Kushinagar, the place of Mahaparinirvana of Lord Gautam Buddha; Tirtharaj Prayagraj; Sitapur, which is famous for Naimisharanya pilgrimage and Mirzapur, the land of Vindhyachal, the place of goddess worship.

This includes projects worth Rs 1,152.38 crore that would be launched in Kushinagar against the target of Rs 1,800 crore and investment projects worth Rs 9,619.9 crore in Prayagraj. Additionally, projects worth Rs 7,047.37 crore are going to be implemented in Chitrakoot, while Sitapur will see the launch of investment projects worth Rs 21,801.8 crore for the Naimisharanya pilgrimage area. An investment of Rs 7,358 crore will be made in Mirzapur district, which is famous for Maa Vindhyavasini Dham. Mirzapur was given a target of Rs 6,500 crore against which it received Rs 7,358 crore.

Through the ceremony, the Yogi Adityanath government is all set kick-start another phase of development in UP in which MoUs worth Rs 10 lakh crore and covering 14,000 projects will be rolled out in the presence of PM Modi in Lucknow at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. These projects are expected to create 33.50 lakh employment opportunities in the state.

Approximately 3,500 investors and guests comprising individuals from India and overseas — including representatives from Fortune 500 companies, ambassadors, and high commissioners — are expected to participate in the event.
