Bardhan calls for closer ties

KOZHIKODE: Exhorting for closer ties between the Communist parties in the country for Left unity, veteran CPI leader A B Bardhan on Wednesday called for evolving a mechanism to regularise the interaction between the leaderships of both the CPM and the CPI. He said there were more similarities than differences between both parties. “The assessment which you have made with regard to the national and international political and economic affairs, the effect on economy, politics, social life and moral life, we both have similar views. There have been differences in certain matters. That’s why the two parties exist. While the differences are a few, similarities of perceptions are many,” he said.In the past two decades, CPM and CPI could work jointly  to undertake joint actions. It is precisely these joint activities which turned out to be instrumental in  forging Left unity. “Unless the two parties work together we cannot evolve unity,” he said. Bardhan said both the parties had institutionalised the parties.
