BANGALORE: Bangalore Baptist Hospital (BBH) has been accredited by NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals) and NABL (National Accreditation Board of Laboratories) for the delivery of highest quality of patient care from the Quality Council of India at an event held at Bangalore Baptist Hospital recently.Dr Girdhar J Gyani, secretary general, Quality Council of India, presented the NABH certificate to Dr Alexander Thomas, Director (CEO), BBH in the presence of Dr Thuppil Venkatesh, principal advisor, Quality Council of India and the management, staff and students of Bangalore Baptist Hospital.BBH is the only multi specialty mission hospital in South India to have received this National mark of excellence.Being a charitable organisation, BBH provides a significant amount of concessional treatment which is about 10 per cent to 20 per cent of its annual budget.In the last financial year, concessions of over `3 crore were given by the hospital.This is in addition to free medical care provided through palliative care and community health initiatives.BBH has also established a comprehensive teaching programme in the hospital in affiliation with various educational bodies.The Hospital had recently inaugurated its cancer centre with radiotherapy facilities during the 38th anniversary celebrations.A state of the art reproductive medicine unit is on the anvil which is being established for the benefit of the community facing issues related to infertility.Speaking on the occasion, while presenting the NABH and NABL certificates Dr Girdhar J.Gyani, secretary general, Quality Council of India said, “This accreditation is testimony to the fact that BBH Care Pathways are protocol driven, reflect global practices and ensure that patients consistently receive quality health care.The hospital was accredited by NABH & NABL after rigid and strict quality assessment and audit.We would like to congratulate the BBH team on fulfilling the high standards required for receiving this accreditation.” Receiving the certificates, Dr Alexander Thomas, director (CEO), BBH, said, “These coveted accreditations were achieved only through the continuous efforts of all staff of BBH to incorporate NABH & NABL standards and tools into the hospital system.We are happy that our efforts have been recognised.The efforts and services have been, and will continue to be, of great benefit to the people we serve, and our community at large.”
