Newbie Maradona Rebello is all set to shock and impress the audience with his bold debut. The Mumbai based actor made his debut with Sanjay Gupta’s Pankh. IBN MOVIES catches up with him before he gets ready to go for the premiere of his latest flick.
Did you always want to act or getting into movies happened by chance?
I was in my final year and at that time I got myself enrolled in a theatre workshop. It was a very good experience and above all I had a great time. Later, I did a few English plays, which went very well for me. That’s when I realised that I could take acting seriously.
How did theatre acting mould you as an actor?
It was great. It really helped me to build my confidence. Most importantly, the training helps you to become a better actor. There are various methods to acting and with formal training, it helps you to bring out the best in you.
You got to work with one of the hottest babes of the industry, Bipasha Basu in your debut film. Were you nervous?
Well, I didn’t know from the start that Bipasha is a part of the film. I just gave a normal audition and didn’t really expect a call from Sanjay Gupta’s office. There was a long script given to me. They liked what I did and then I was on board. When I was told about Bipasha, I couldn’t believe it.
How was it working with her?
It was great. She is very helpful. There are many scenes which are emotionally very challenging. But she was always there, helping me out with the scenes. Bipasha is fun on the sets.
First film with Bipasha, and second one with Zeenat Aman. You are on a roll...
Yeah, I have just finished the shoot for Dunno Y... Na Jaane Kyun. It was great to work with senior actors like Zeenat Aman, Helen and Kabir Bedi.
