Jaipur: Alleging "gross violation" of model code of conduct in poll-bound Rajasthan, the BJP on Tuesday demanded immediate shifting of Chief Secretary CK Mathew, besides direction to state officials to ensure fair elections.
"Under (Chief Minister) Ashok Gehlot's rule, the state machinery is being blatantly misused to popularise government's flagship schemes," BJP's election cell convener Yogendra Singh Tanwar and spokesperson Kailash Nath Bhatt said in a joint press conference in Jaipur.
The Assembly polls in the state are slated for December 1.
They alleged that Chief Secretary Mathew's working style was "doubtful" and the officer was "fulfilling interests of the Gehlot government."
The party had earlier given a memorandum to this effect to the state chief election officer but no action was taken, they alleged.
"Directly or indirectly, the government machinery is giving favours to the Congress party that ruled the state in last five years," the leaders alleged.
Hoardings, banners, and posters of Congress regime's flagship schemes, which still exist at many places, should be immediately brought down, they demanded.
