Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Bhartiya Janata Party on Tuesday passed a resolution for the "dignified return" of Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) to the Valley.
A resolution was passed by the party's state unit on the return of the members of the KP community to the Valley with a release stating that the BJP stood by its commitment of ensuring a dignified return of KPs.
On the 27th Martyrs Day of Tika Lal Taploo, former vice-president of BJP Kashmir, tributes were paid here to him as well as those civilians and security forces personnel who were killed by terrorists.
BJP state presidentand MLA Sat Sharma applauded the work of Taploo and described him as "a symbol of nationalism and the voice of the Kashmiri people who never compromised on principles".
He said Taploo's death during the early days of militancy in Kashmir not only deprived the BJP but the entire nation and added that at this "crucial juncture", when Kashmir was on the boil, a leader like him was much needed.
He assured the displaced KP community that the saffron party was always with them and supported the resolution for their return to the Valley.
State Minister of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Sham Choudhary highlighted Taploo's contribution to the KP community and the BJP.
He also paid tribute to Premnath Bhat who was killed by terrorists in Anantnag and other martyrs.
MLC Surinder Ambardar paid tribute to Taploo, Bhat, the martyrs of Wandahana, Chattisinghpora Nadimarg and voiced support to the resolution on the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley.
