BJP responds in kind, Uma Bharti suspended
Taking exception to the fiery leader's belligerence, BJP has suspended her from the party's primary membership and served a show-cause notice.

New Delhi: Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and firebrand leader Uma Bharti has been suspended from BJP's primary membership and has been served a three-day show cause.

She will have to give justify her position in party her rebellion against the leadership issues in Madhya Pradesh.

The decision came after the Parliamentary Board met in New Delhi on Wednesday to decide on the disciplinary action to be taken against her.

Announcing the decision, BJP leader Arun Jaitley said that Uma had been misbehaving for the last few days and has been suspended for anti-party activities.

"The Parliamentary Board, which met here, considered the conduct and statements of Uma Bharti in the last few days and was of the opinion that these constitute anti party activities," Jaitley said.

The meeting was chaired by party president LK Advani and attended by the top BJP brass including former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, Murli Manohar Joshi, Jaswant Singh, M Venkaiah Naidu,Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Sanjay Joshi besides Jaitley.

The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has already completed 10 kms of her Kshma Yatra from Bhopal to Ayodhya to protest against the Chief Ministership issue in the state.

Uma Bharti was made the BJP General Secretary just last week.

Uma, who remained defiant despite the threat of an impending suspension, trained guns on the BJP top brass on Tuesday over the Madhya Pradesh leadership issue.

Former Prime Minister Vajpayee had on Monday set the ball rolling when he hinted at disciplinary action against Bharti for taking potshots at senior BJP leaders like LK Advani, Atal Behari Vajpayee and Pramod Mahajan.

"This is an act of gross indiscipline. Lust for power creates difficulties for the party in the future," Vajpayee had said on Monday.

But the firebrand sanyasin has decided not to go down without fighting. She is now threatening to play the OBC card against her own party.

The BJP top brass had already started sent a clear warning signal to Uma when 14 MLAs supporting her were slapped with show-cause notices.

In what looks like a full-scale war between the sanyasin and the BJP with Uma daring the Central leadership to take action against her.

"Uma Bharti believes in swadeshi, Uma Bharti believes in swaraj, Uma Bharti believes in swabhimaan. I am the real BJP. And I challenge any other leader to debate with me on this," Uma had said on Monday.
