BJP says it will revive POTA in UP
BJP accused the UP government of encouraging terror activities in the state and said it would revive POTA if it came to power.

New Delhi: With the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections around the corner, there is a lot of mudslinging going on between parties in the state.

The Bhartiya Janata Party on Sunday accused the Mulayam Singh Yadav government of encouraging terror activities in the state.

The BJP also said it would revive anti-terrorism law Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) if it came to power after in UP after the Assembly elections.

"The party will revive POTA to curb terrorist activities if we come to power after the polls," UP BJP chief Kesri Nath Tripathi was quoted by news agency PTI as saying in Kanpur.

He alleged that the Samajwadi Party regime had been "encouraging" terrorism in the state and said if the BJP formed the next government, it would order CBI probes against

Yadav as well as BSP chief Mayawati.

Tripathi, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and actress Hema Malini and senior party leader Kalraj Mishra addressed election rallies at various places in Kanpur, which goes to the polls on April 7.

The seven-phased elections in the state are scheduled to begin no April 7.
