Despite claims that protests against the Bofors issue will be the start of a nationwide agitation, not many supporters showed up.
New Delhi: The BJP on Tuesday held protests in the capital against the decision to de-freeze Italian businessman and the alleged prime beneficiary of Bofors kickbacks Ottavio Quattorocchi
The BJP, which has been gunning for Law Minister H R Bhardwaj’s head, accused him of aiding Quattorocchi in the pay-offs in the Bofors gun deal.
BJP general secretary Arun jaitley led the charge accusing the UPA of trying to quash the investigation due to Quattorocchi's connections with the Gandhi family.
But despite BJP's claim that Tuesday’s protests would be the start of a nationwide agitation, it did not attract many supporters. Few BJP leaders were present in the capital.
