Body count up in Delhi honour killings case
Dead body found in car of suspects who are accused of murdering couple.

New Delhi: The murders of a couple who married outside their castes took a mysterious turn on Tuesday when Delhi Police found a dead woman in a car belonging to a relative of the victims.

Sobha is a cousin of Monica, who was murdered along with her husband Kuldeep on Sunday. Monica's brother Ankit and cousin Mandeep are suspects in the couple’s murders and police believe they killed Sobha too.

Sobha is Mandeep's sister and had eloped with a man outside her community and then married him. Police feel that the killers could be angry at inter-caste marriages in the family that started with Monica.

Sobha was apparently shot in the head and she was lying in the backseat of the car which was locked from inside. Her body was identified by her other brother Sandeep.

Police said the car, which was found at H-Block in Ashok Vihar Phase-I of in northwest Delhi, belonged to Kuldeep's cousin Rahul who had helped Kuldeep and Monica get married four years ago. Kuldeep was allegedly beaten up by Monica's brothers once for helping the couple.

Mudit Bhatia, a resident of Ashok Vihar Phase-I, spotted the car from which blood was trickling down and informed the police.

Residents noticed the car last evening but didn’t see who had parked it. Police are searching for Mandeep and Ankit.
