HYDERABAD: APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana is understood to have obtained green signal from the party high command on Thursday for appointment of District Congress Committee presidents and revamp of the PCC. AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad, after an hour long discussion in Delhi, reportedly told Satyanarayana to go ahead with the exercise.Satyanarayana in fact did a lot of homework in the recent past in this regard, but with the party high command asking him to wait in the wake of frayed tempers over the delay in announcement of a decision on Telangana, he could not do anything. As the Congress is beginning to allow itself the luxury of the first stirrings of hope that there may not be any jolt on the T issue at least in the near future, the PCC chief has got the go ahead signal.Satyanarayana had already completed the exercise in respect of some districts. He has to complete the rest of the work in consultation with chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. The high command is also of the view that the party machinery should be in order when byelections are notified for 17 Assembly seats which are likely to fall vacant as disqualification petitions are pending against the sitting MLAs for voting against the government during the notrust motion in the Assembly on December 5.The PCC chief is also understood to have discussed the byelections with Azad and took his suggestions to prepare the party for the polls. He is reported to have told him about suitable candidates for each constituency. He has already sought the cooperation of the MPs in whose constituencies, the Assembly segments are going for byelections, to ensure that the party puts up good performance.
