Kolkata: A serving Border Security Forces (BSF) jawan was beaten up after he warned a group of men for harassing his wife in West Bengal's Nadia district on Sunday.
The jawan has been identified as Bablu Das. He is presently admitted in GM Hospital in Kalyani and his condition is stable now.
A complaint has been lodged with the local police station and so far no one has been arrested in this connection.
The incident took place when a group of youths – in an inebriated state - passed lewd comments at his wife in a local market. The jawan protested and asked the eve-teasers to stay away.
The youths left the place and later reappeared with sticks. The jawan was assaulted and his wife was also manhandled.
The Jawan – who is posted at 173 Battalion in Samba Sector in Jammu - was on leave in Nadia when the incident occurred.
