New Delhi: Darjeeling MP and senior politician Jaswant Singh spoke to a Pakistani news channel about the hard choices that a party in governance is forced to make at times of crisis.
Jaswant Singh who was the External Affairs Minister during the hijack crisis of flight IC-184, said the BJP government had to make rather quick decisions regarding the swap of terrorists for the lives of hostages at Kandahar.
He said, "Governance is an extremely testing challenge. Most of the times, the decisions have to be made between two great wrongs. Wrong to release terrorists and wrong to let 166 die. Which do you choose? You have to choose instantly. The Cabinet chose to let 166 live. I volunteered to go so that any last minute hiccups are eliminated."
