Can't teach you how to drape a dhoti but can tell you how to remove it: MP Minister to Russian woman

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur has courted controversy by saying that he once told a Russian leader's wife that he could show her how to 'remove a dhoti'. The sexist remarks came while he was addressing a state-level party convention on Sunday.

Gaur, aged 84, said that the wife of a Russian leader was curious to know how he managed to drape a dhoti. "I told her I can't teach you how to wear it, but I can certainly teach you how to remove it, but that too later not now," the minister said.

He even went ahead to brag about another incident when a Russian woman kissed him on the forehead. He also added that he had to stop other women from following the suit else he would not have been given a ticket by the BJP.

"Russian women are healthy. Had that photograph (of a woman kissing his forehead) been available, the BJP would not have given a ticket to me in the first place," he said.

Gaur in the past too had courted controversy by his sexist comments. He had said that the rapes can only be considered to have been committed if it is reported to police.

"This is a social crime which depends on men and women. Sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong," Gaur had said adding that until there's a complaint, nothing can happen.
