CBI implicated me, my siblings: Janardhan Reddy

Languishing in prison for the last one year, Karnataka former minister and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy on Tuesday alleged that the case against him was illegal and his siblings were also implicated by the investigation agencies.

Gali Janardhan Reddy, lodged in a Bengaluru jail, was on Tuesday produced before the CBI court through video conference.

As soon as he was produced before the court, Janardhan Reddy sought permission from judge U Durgaprasad Rao to speak.

“I have a 15-year-old daughter and an 11-yearold son to take care of.

I was arrested a year ago in a case, which was registered three years back.

I have done no wrong,” he said with folded hands.

The mining baron went on to add that “we are living in a democratic country and I served as a minister” when the judge tried to cut short his talk.

“What is your prayer,” the judge asked Gal i Janardhan Reddy and advised him to approach the court through his counsel.

The judge asked Reddy’s counsel to submit a memo, and said that the order will be passed as per law.

Meanwhile, judicial remand to all the accused in the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) illegal mining case, including Janardhan Reddy, has been extended up to September 25.

The other accused were also produced through video conference facility from the Chanchalguda prison.
