CHENNAI: A multiple collision involving six vehicles hit traffic on arterial Lattice Bridge Road in Adyar on Tuesday. Three persons were injured in the incident.The chain reaction was triggered when an MTC bus T21, proceeding from Pattinapakkam to Kannagi Nagar, rammed an Innova car from behind opposite Ganapathy Ram Theatre around 4 pm. MTC driver, A Loganathan (37) of Cholamandalam Street, Taramani, was behind the wheel and the mishap was the result of rash driving, Traffic Investigation sources told Express.The Innova car in turn hit a Santro which collided with a Tavera. “It was dhum, dhum, dhum as the cars collided and it was over in a few seconds,” the driver of the Tavera recalled. He was carrying his employer’s children from their school in Raja Annamalaipuram to their house in Kottivakkam. He rammed into an auto, which came to a halt after knocking a two-wheeler from behind.S Raja (30) of Kandhanchavadi was on the bike, with his friend Shyam Sundar (31) riding pillion. Shyam fractured his leg while Raja and a pedestrian, P Ramamurthy (43), sustained minor injuries. The MTC bus and other vehicles that were damaged in the collision were seized by the Adyar Traffic Investigation police team led by sub-inspector Palani. The vehicular pile-up brought traffic to a halt on the arterial road for about 30 minutes. A case was filed against the MTC driver under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC.
