New Delhi: The Indian Hockey Federation seems to be in more trouble.

The Federation of International Hockey, the world body on Sunday threatened to scrap the Promoting Indian Hockey Project and the 2010 World Cup if the Indian Olympic Association fails to clean up the mess in IHF.

Expressing dismay at the state of Indian hockey just a day before an IOA meeting to discuss the bribe scandal involving suspended IHF secretary K Jothikumaran, FIH chief Els Van said the world body can't work with a federation whose top official was under investigation following a TV sting operation.

The FIH now wants the IOA and the Sports Ministry to handle the situation.

Earlier this month too, the FIH had threatened to drop New Delhi as the venue to host the World Cup in 2010 because of India's recent performances on the field.

The Indian men's hockey team, eight-time Olympic champions, failed to qualify for the Beijing Olympics, which didn't go down too well with the world body.

The technical advisor for the men's hockey team, Ric Charlesworth, was not given a free-hand in sorting out issues confronting Indian hockey, which also invited the ire of the FIH.

What's your reaction?
