Kolkata: West Bengal based religious leader Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi - who demanded an apology from Singer Sonu Nigam for his ‘azaan’ remark - has now refused to pay Rs 10 lakh as reward to a hairstylist who shaved Nigam’s head on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Quaderi has announced Rs 10 lakh reward for those who will shave Nigam’s head and put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck and parade him around the country.

Accepting the challenge, Nigam called a press conference in Mumbai and got his head saved. Later, he tweeted, “Today at 2pm Aalim will come to my place, and shave my head. Keep your Rs 10 lakh ready Maulavi.”

Reacting to Nigam’s shaved head and the reward he had promised, Quaderi speaking to News18, said, “I will not pay Rs 10 lakh to the barber who shaved his head as he fulfilled only one promise out of three.”

The Bollywood singer argued that he had also mentioned in his tweets about gurudwaras and temple misusing loudspeakers but no one paid attention to that.

“I can’t write an essay on Twitter. I also wrote a tweet on temples and gurudwara which no one reflected upon,” he said.

Muslim community expressed their ire following Nigam’s tweet, which reads, “God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India.”
