VISAKHAPATNAM: Uttarandhra Congress Garjana, a public meeting organised by the Pradesh Congress Committee on the sands of Ramakrishna Beach here on Sunday, sent out a loud warning to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy not to underestimate the Congress as it was too a formidable force for him to confront.
The meeting, considered a massive show of strength by PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana, had crowds mobilised from North Andhra districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari district.The meeting also sought to ensure a comfortable merger of erstwhile PRP and the Congress with Chiranjeevi declaring that he was too happy to be anointed as a Congress leader. He said: "I cannot say how happy I am to stand in front of you as a Congress leader."
Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Satyanarayana and Chiranjeevi utilised the occasion to drive home the point that the Congress always kept its promises to people and that the state government cared for the disadvantaged sections of society.Kiran Kumar Reddy wanted Jagan Mohan Reddy to have patience and not be greedy. He took out an example of himself as to how he waited for two decades to become a minister and how he suddenly became the chief minister instead.The chief minister utilised the occasion to narrate the achievements of his government and how the Congress stood for redeeming the promises it made. "By the end of 2014, we will provide 15 lakh jobs in the private sector and one lakh jobs by the end of this year. Ten lakh acres land would be distributed to five lakh SC and ST families with water facility from October 2. Also the Government is planning to start a new welfare programme "Milk Machine" to provide employment to the women at a cost of `6,000 crore.Botcha Satyanarayana took Jagan Mohan Reddy to task. "He is handing out threats of dislodging the government because the investigation is on into his illgotten riches. Using his media, Jagan Mohan Reddy is trying to sling mud on the government," he said."He (Jagan) is going to the people in the name of Odarpu Yatra, but he should be consoling those whose lands had been usurped for establishment of SEZs," he said.
