Cop held for molesting woman

HYDERABAD: A constable attached with the KPHB police station was arrested on Friday for allegedly misbehaving with a woman and outraging her modesty in the Kukatpally Housing Board Colony on Thursday night.The 24-year-old constable, Lakshman, has been posted with the KPHB police station for the past four years.According to the police, Lakshman was returning home after duty when he saw the driver of a Tata Sumo repairing its headlight in Phase-IV of the colony. When Lakshman peered through the window he saw a 30-year-old woman sitting in the vehicle.When he questioned the driver, he was told that the woman was an employee of a private factory and was returning home by the transport provided by the company.Lakshman behaved in a high-handed manner with driver Shiva Raju, beat him up and forcibly took away his mobile phone and some money before snatching away the car keys.He forced the driver into the Sumo and drove the vehicle himself till Gruha Kalpa where he pushed Shiva Raju out. He drove on till he reached an isolated place where he tried to outrage the modesty of the woman sitting in the back seat.Suddenly, Lakshman realised that he lost his name badge and started searching for it in the vehicle giving the woman an opportunity to escape and approach the police.The KPHB police registered a case against constable Lakshman and arrested him.
