Courses at engineering college, Thodupuzha

KOCHI: University College of Engineering, Thodupuzha, the only college owned and managed by MG University, is offering four-year BTech degree courses in electrical and electronics, electronics and communication, computer science, information technology and polymer engineering. The intake for each of the BTech degree courses is 60, with an additional 10 percent fee waiver seats. The college is set in Muttom panchayat, eight kilometres from Thodupuzha. The postgraduate course in applied electronics engineering offered here has a sanctioned intake of 36 students. The college, which has been awarded the status of a research centre for the electronics and communication engineering stream, boasts of infrastructure facilities at the national level.Ninety percent of the students who are admitted to the college are selected from the list prepared by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Kerala. The rest 10 percent seats come under the NRI quota (5 percent) and University staff quota (5 percent) respectively. Half of the students admitted based on the list of the entrance commissioner have to pay only a lower fee as stipulated by the Government. The college, which was founded in 1996, bagged the first rank for both electrical engineering and polymer engineering last year.
