The bail pleas of two accused in separate cases involving the riots last year in the area has been rejected by courts in Muzaffarnagar.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Narender Kumar rejected the bail plea of Subodh, an accused in the Bahawdi killings, upon the prosecution's contention that he was facing charges in several cases.
Three persons, including two women, were killed by rioters at Bahawdi village in the district's Phugana police station area during the riots on September 8 last year.
Meanwhile, a sessions court rejected the bail plea of one Muzammil in connection with the Kawal killings case. Additional District Sessions Judge Jitender Kumar rejected the bail plea of the accused who has been named in the case along with four others.
Two youths were beaten to death at Kawal village on August 27, 2013, following which communal tensions spread in the area.
