THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Five roads in the city will be renovated and opened to the public before August 20 as part of Phase II of the City Road Improvement Project (CRIP). This was decided at a review meeting on CRIP convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here on Friday evening. The five roads are - MG Road (RR Lamp to Overbridge), Attakkulangara-Enchakkal NH Bypass, Kumarapuram-KIMS Hospital NH Bypass, Museum-Nandavanam- Model School Junction, and the Kowdiar-Ambalamukku- Peroorkada stretch.An action plan tabled at the meeting for the reconstruction of Murinjapalam was approved in principle. The District Collector and the City Police Commissioner were entrusted with the task of making the necessary traffic arrangements.The meeting also decided to ensure the coordination of various agencies for launching Phase III of CRIP. Finance Minister K M Mani, Transport Minister V S Sivakumar, PWD Minister V K Ibrahim Kunju and Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Shashi Tharoor MP, Travancore Devaswom Board president Advocate M Rajagopalan Nair and heads of various government departments attended the review meeting.
