Even as Telangana employees are apprehensive that the police have registered cases against them for participating in the Telangana March on September 30, chief secretary Minnie Mathew has made it clear that there are no cases against them.
Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee (TEJAC) chairman G.Deviprasad, Telangana Gazetted Officers’ Association president V Srinivas Goud and others called on the chief secretary at the Secretariat here on Monday.
The chief secretary checked with the director-general of police and told them that there were no cases against employees and she. The TEJAC has recently served a notice on the government that they will launch an agitation in phases if the cases registered against them for participating in the T-March are not dropped.
The chief secretary invited the leaders to talks on Monday and told them that if they had evidence of registration of cases they should furnish it to the government.
Speaking to reporters later, Deviprasad alleged that the police filed 21 FIRs in the Secunderabad and Nampally courts against those who participated in the march. “We are trying to get certified copies of FIRs from courts. We will then approach the government again,” he said and suspected that the police furnished misinformation to the government on the cases. He said they would give five days’ time to the government to drop the cases and launch agitation in phases if the government did not meet their demand.
Srinivas Goud alleged that the police registered sedition cases against the agitators. C Vithal and Mamata were also in the delegation that called on the chief secretary.
Home minister P Sabita Indra Reddy called on CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy and discussed various issues including the cases against employees. Speaking to reporters later, she said cases were registered against Telangana employees.
