KOCHI: Kicking up another controversy in the self-financing sector, the admissions supervisory committee headed by Justice P A Mohammed has sent notices to the dental college managements seeking an explanation from them for conducting entrance examinations without securing the nod of the committee.
The committee has asked the college managements to give an explanation before the committee which is to meet here on Tuesday. The committee had written to the Association of Managements of Unaided Private Medical and Dental Colleges elaborating the procedures to be followed before conducting the entrance test. The managements should have secured the committee's nod before bringing out the prospectus, conducting the entrance examination and preparing the question papers. It is learnt that the test was conducted to fill the seats in 17 dental colleges.

Last year when the Kerala Private Medical College Association conducted the entrance examination to fill the MBBS seats, it was cancelled by the Supreme Court.

In the present case, the college managements may be asked to conduct a retest under the supervision of the Mohammed Committee.
