New Delhi: After facing criticism across Britain and India, disgraced Big Brother star Jade Goody has been found to be suffering from depression and was admitted to the London Priory Clinic on Tuesday.
According to the British tabloid paper The Sun, Goody collapsed after watching other housemates, including her boyfriend Jack Tweed, re-enacting her row with Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.
Goody, whose name has since become synonymous with bad, racist behaviour, had admitted last week that she indeed made racist comments about the Indian actress on the reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother.
"She (Shilpa Shetty) was a victim of bullying and racism, yes. I can understand why she would have said that," Goody told London’s News of The World newspaper. "I am not going to justify my actions because they were wrong. I was shocked to see how I behaved. I was shocked and disgusted at myself," she said.
According to London's The Sun newspaper, last week, Goody was, in fact, "on the brink of suicide" after being branded as a racist and kicked off the show. Another newspaper, however, quoted Goody as having denied the rumours that she was suicidal.
Goody’s agent John Noel, however, said on January 23, that she was being treated by doctors for 'shock and depression'. He claimed Goody was a victim of bullying herself at the hands of the media.
