Develop entrepreneurial skills, students told

CHENNAI: “Each student after graduation should determine their own dharma and career identity,” said Lakshmi Narayanan, Vice Chairman, Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) and Chairman, ICT Academy Tamil Nadu.Delivering the seventh convocation day address at Saveetha Engineering College today, Lakshmi Narayanan said that each student should take up the responsibilty to determine in which area they have to start up their life’s work. He also added that students should develop the qualities of entrepreneurs as it will help in their careers.The energy segment now offers ample opportunities to entrepreneurs, especially if we can develop effective engineering solutions to save energy. That will set new milestones in industrial growth, he said adding that young engineers and managers have to take responsibility in building our nation. He highlighted that all over the world research is being done in the field of alternative energy where 5 to 6 billion USD have been  invested by venture capitalists. He also called upon the youth to identify opportunities and  create wealth. He stressed that making money in a legitimate way is absolutely right and there was no need to have any apprehension about it. After this, Lakshmi Narayanan distributed certificates to 480 graduating students. The Dean of the college, R Dheenadayalu, welcomed the gathering. President and Chancellor of Saveetha University, NM Veeraiyan, gave the presidential address. On seeing the gathering of students he said, “Pay your parents in terms of respect. They made you study inspite of all their hurdles and hardships they suffered.” Also he said, “The responsibilities for you have indeed doubled, as on the one hand you have to excel in your career and on the other you have duties towards your family.”
