Did Chetan Bhagat just coin a new term? 'Half-Girlfriend' joins 'conscious uncoupling' and other words in the relationship jargon
While most of his aficionados would be deciphering the meaning of 'Half Girlfriend', we know it for certain that the author has just added another interesting jargon.

So India's beloved author Chetan Bhagat is back with his latest book 'Half Girlfriend'. And while most of his aficionados would be deciphering the meaning of 'Half Girlfriend', we know it for certain that the ace author has just added another interesting jargon in the internet slang dictionary. Whatever CB's new book's title means, the author has done his job of finding out a suitable title that is both catchy and attention grabbing.

Chetan Bhagat's 'Half Girlfriend' reminded us of the split between Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. The couple termed their separation as 'Conscious Uncoupling', that was a sober term used in place of divorce and sounded very euphemistic. The use of such buzzwords have become a trend of late and these psychobabbles have come into widespread use in business management, motivational seminars, folk psychology and popular psychology.

The internet is full of such relationship slangs and we too tend to use those jargons at some or the other point. Words like babycakes, manicorn, precop, hot rooms, ex-hole are a few favourite relationship slangs. Just in case you don't know the meanings of these unconventionally interesting words. We explain the meanings of some of the words here.

1. Ex-hole- This is a phrase used to refer to that person you used to date that you can't stand.

2. Precop- A mutually binding agreement (usually verbal) by and between consenting adults prior to engaging in casual sex.

3. Hot Room- A social situation in which there are complicated relationship dynamics.

4. The Spousal We- When your spouse uses the word "we" but really means "you." Can be seen as subtle persuasion or passive-aggressive manipulation.

5. Manicorn- The elusive perfect man. He may not exist, but it's much more romantic to believe that he does.

CB's 'Half Girlfriend' is the story of a Bihari boy called Madhav who falls in love with a rich girl from Delhi called Riya. And as the story goes, Madhav couldn't express his feelings to Riya in English, while Riya wanted an affluent, English speaking man. So there is a compromise and the girl agrees to be his half-girlfriend. Now the answer to the meaning of the term 'Half Girlfriend' can only be explained once the book hits the stands.
