The meeting formed an organisation named ‘Kerala State Private Teachers’ organisation’, and elected its office-bearers. The meeting was organised under the auspices of  the Kerala Samsthana Janakeeya Prithodha Samithi (KSJPS). Interestingly, it was the KSJPS which first took out the nurses’ strike in the state too.Teachers of Kottayam district predominantly attended the meeting. Delegates from Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukky, Alappuzha and Thrissur also participated.“Private school teachers are the most exploited employees in the state. Though they have higher educational degrees like BEd and MEd they have been paid a meagre amount of Rs 3,000 to 7,000 as monthly salary.  It is the salary and service structure prevailing in the private schools that forced us to form an organisation of this sort to protect our rights,” said Jaison Joseph, a CBSE school teacher and state secretariat member of the KSJPS.first published:January 01, 1970, 05:30 ISTlast updated:January 01, 1970, 05:30 IST
